George and Nellie Meier collection [graphic], ca. 1900-1930s.

This collection consists of photographs of the Indianapolis homes of George and Nellie Meier. Some of the photographs include Nellie's written descriptions of the decor. There are exterior and interior views of Tuckaway, the residence located at 3128 North Pennsylvania Street and previous residences belonging to the Meiers in Indianapolis.

George and Nellie Meier purchased Tuckaway in 1910 where they lived for many years. Mr. Meier was a designer of women's apparel and in 1902, became affiliated with L.S. Ayres. Mrs. Meier was a well-known palm reader. Among her clients were: Susan B. Anthony, Booker T. Washington, Helen Hayes, Eleanor Roosevelt, James Whitcomb Riley, and Lew Wallace.
